Collegiate Athletes
The move from high school to the collegiate level, the transition it demands, and the challenges that follow college.
Making the adjustment to the next level, from high school to the collegiate level, can come with stress and negative emotions. The process of leaving familiar surroundings and family can take a toll on the student athlete. Developing constructive coping processes is vital, creating opportunities for growth, maturation and the transition from childhood to young adulthood.
I recognise that for some college students this transition runs smoothly, and for others the process is not a comforting one. I have also learned that the collegiate student athlete will face post-college challenges during the life after college phase, which can be a daunting task.
VRC will assist the collegiate athlete with:
- Mentorship
- Overtraining and burnout
- Stress management
- Time management
- Self-esteem
- SMART goal setting
- Handling adversity
- Anxiety control
- Role ambiguity and role difficulties
